Look Inside The Book

24 pages of meticulously researched and verified history of little known historical facts.

1776–1800 · The Founding Era
The Declaration Almost Wasn't Signed on July 4th
Most of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence didn't actually sign it on July 4, 1776. Congress voted for independence on July 2nd, approved the text on the 4th, but most signatures weren't added until August 2, 1776. John Adams thought July 2nd would be the holiday Americans celebrated forever. He was wrong by two days.
Little-Known Fact: Two signers — Richard Henry Lee and Thomas McKean — didn't sign until 1776 was nearly over.

George Washington Lost More Battles Than He Won
George Washington lost roughly twice as many battles as he won during the Revolutionary War. What he was brilliant at was keeping an army together and alive — retreating when he had to, striking when the odds shifted. His crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night 1776 to surprise Hessian troops at Trenton is considered one of the boldest military moves in American history.
Little-Known Fact: Washington's army was so desperate for boots that winter that soldiers left bloody footprints in the snow at Valley Forge.
